Author! Author!!

We love this book so much lately that we decided we needed to tell someone.  So we wrote an email to the author's daughter, Dr. Kate Showers, a university professor in England.  Her response was delightful.  She was pleased that her father's works are still enjoyed, and gave us some insight into works he was planning that never got finished.  But we were just happy to have told her he made an impact in our lives.

 Jack decides it's time he added musical accompaniment to his songs for his animal friends.

In a house brimming with musical instruments, we can see we'll be needing to get even more...

Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me!

 Apple picking at Door Creek Orchard in Deerfield.  The rain held up just long enough for us to get our apples and get back in the car.

 Jack and Avery grooved to a free concert by local hip-hoppers, The Figureheads.  It was an awesome, kid-empowering show!

By the end of the show, this was one little hipper, who needed some rest from all that hoppin'.
